| Launched in March 2007, the programme was
created in consultation with leading road safety campaigners and cycling
experts - from established scheme organisers to instructors. It is
supported by the National Standard for Cycle Training and takes learners
through three different levels, awarding development at each stage of the
training process. |

Bikeability is one of Cycling England's flagship
schemes, intended to rescue
a 'lost generation' of children who would otherwise miss out on the
opportunity to learn to cycle safely and responsibly.
|
| A child will typically start Bikeability
lessons once they have learnt to ride a bike, with Years 3 to 5
progressing through to Level Two and Year 6 to Level Three ready for
secondary school. |
-
Level One teaches basic skills and bicycle handling
-
Level Two gives children the skills they need to cycle
safely to school on quiet roads
-
Level Three covers more complicated traffic environments
|
|
| Our specially designed course runs over 6 weeks, the
first being a Bike-Check session,
followed by two weeks for off-road skills training, and the final three
weeks of on-road training. The sessions are designed to be 45 minutes to 1
hour, depending on group size; normally 10-15 per group. A certificate is
provided for everyone who passes the Bikeability levels one, two or three,
and the whole course costs around £25 per child, working out at
below £5 per session. |

|
This qualification is not simply for children,
Adults too can complete the course to improve their road skills. All
aspects to city riding are covered to enable you to become a totally
proficient and confident cyclist. |
|
|
Individual sessions can be booked with one of
our instructors, at the rate of £20 for the first hour, and £15 for all
following hours. Whatever your needs. From learning to first ride a bike
to comprehensive roundabout training.
